START/RESTART LOAN PROGRAM
IECU is here to help, no matter your current financial situation, and is able to do so with interest rates much lower than those offers from predatory lenders. In a world where second chances are hard to come by, the IECU Restart Loan Program offers a solution to repair poor credit and provide financial guidance from an experienced IECU Lending Officer. If you have a low credit score or have had financing issues in the past, the IECU Restart Loan is for you. Simply secure your amount, pay it back on time, and your positive payment history will be reported to the credit bureaus. You’ll be back on track in no time!
For our members who are just starting out and are looking to establish credit for the first time, IECU offers the Start Loan Program. Our low rates and specialized payment plans work together while you learn the basics of savings. Just like that, you’ll see your credit begin to build and open new doors for your personal finance options!

EMV CARD CONVERSION
In January 2016, the Illinois Educators Credit Union will begin issuing EMV chip credit cards. Current IECU card holders can expect to have their new EMV chip card by the end of 2016 as we work to gradually move all card holders to our new EMV chip card. Please make sure we have your correct contact and mailing information in order to complete this process.
Once you receive and activate your new card, please destroy your existing card for security reasons. For your convenience, your card number and PIN have not changed. Your card may have a new expiration date, so be sure to update your information with billers that charge your card regularly.
How do you use your new EMV credit card? When you use your card at a chip-activated terminal, the embedded chip creates a unique, one-time use code for each transaction to be authenticated so it’s virtually impossible to replicate in a counterfeit card. It’s easy to make purchases with your credit card. You can always swipe your card like you do today but if a chip-activated terminal is available, you will be prompted to:
- Insert the chip end of your credit card into the terminal with the chip facing up
- Leave your card in the terminal and follow the prompts on screen
- Make sure you remember to remove your card after the transaction is complete
- You will not need to enter a PIN when paying, but you may be prompted to sign for your purchase.
